SSIP is a membership or umbrella body for assessment schemes with the common aim of reducing both duplication and costs for both buyers and suppliers.

Suppliers do not join or become members of SSIP. SSIP is not an assessment scheme. It is the assessment schemes who are registered members of SSIP.

SSIP actively promotes the reduction in health and safety assessment costs and bureaucracy in the supply chain, by making cross-recognition between member schemes as effective as possible and highlighting the savings to buyers and suppliers. All SSIP member schemes have fully committed to the vision of driving unnecessary cost and confusion out of supplier health and safety assessment, and SSIP’s core philosophy is to enable effective cross-recognition between existing schemes.

Yes. Once For All Health & Safety SSIP is included within all paid memberships.

Subcontractor compliance membership Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum compliance memberships include Once For All Health & Safety SSIP but also offer a ‘Deem to Satisfy’ certificate for those who hold a valid SSIP with an alternative provider.

It is encouraged that you complete the questions in full, with evidence. Check out our guidance document for a comprehensive list. You will be asked to provide information regarding staffing, financials and work categories within their own sections before starting the assessment. If you submit insufficient information, you risk delaying your submission: your application will be returned with a request for further details.

A health and safety assessment is an assessment of a company’s health and safety policies and processes carried out by an SSIP member scheme on behalf of a client. The client may be a ‘Buyer’ such as a local authority or large contractor, or a ‘supplier’ like you. Most contractors obtain SSIP certifications because they are asked to by buyers as a condition of working for them.

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 are intended to ensure that health and safety issues are properly considered during a construction project’s development so that the risk of harm to those who have to build, use and maintain structures is reduced. The CDM regulations require Clients, Designers, Principal Designers, Principal Contractors, and Contractors to carry out specific duties and ensures that these duty holders co-operate and communicate with each other and co-ordinate their work.
